How to Make Tres Leches Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 5 large eggs, divided
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 can (12 oz) evaporated milk
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Separate the egg yolks and whites. In another bowl, beat the yolks with 3/4 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in 1/3 cup of milk and vanilla.
  4. Add the flour mixture to the yolk mix and stir gently.
  5. In a clean bowl, beat the egg whites until soft peaks form. Slowly add the remaining 1/4 cup sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
  6. Gently fold the egg whites into the cake batter. Pour into the baking dish.
