  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 4½ cups all-purpose flour (more or less)

Filling:

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¾ cup powdered sugar
  • ¾ cup strawberry jam
  • 1 cup finely diced strawberries

Icing:

  • ⅓ cup reserved cream cheese mixture
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1–2 teaspoons milk
  • A touch of vanilla extract

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine lukewarm water, yeast, and sugar. Stir until dissolved.
  2. Add milk, melted butter, salt, eggs, and 1 cup of flour. Beat until smooth.
  3. Gradually add the remaining flour to form a soft dough. Knead until smooth and elastic.
  4. Let the dough rest for 5 minutes.
  5. For the filling, beat the softened cream cheese until fluffy. Add ¾ cup powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Reserve about ⅓ cup of this mixture for the icing.
  6. In another bowl, mix the strawberry jam and diced strawberries.
  7. Roll out the dough on a greased surface into a rectangle about 10×15 inches.
  8. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the dough, then top with the strawberry mixture.
  9. Roll up the dough tightly and pinch the edge to seal.
  10. Cut the roll into 12 slices and place them in a greased 9×13-inch baking pan.
  11. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 to 10 hours or overnight.
  12. Remove the rolls from the refrigerator and let them rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  13. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  14. Bake the rolls for 30–35 minutes, or until set in the middle. Cover with foil if they brown too quickly.
  15. For the icing, mix the reserved cream cheese mixture with ½ cup powdered sugar, milk, and a touch of vanilla until smooth.
  16. Drizzle the icing over the warm rolls before serving.
