How to Make Cheese-Stuffed Meatloaf
Ingredients:
- 1½ pounds ground beef (85% or 90% lean)
- ½ yellow onion, finely chopped
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
- ¼ cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Cheddar cheese, cut into cubes
For the glaze:
- ½ cup ketchup
- 1½ tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
Directions:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a big bowl, mix the ground beef, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, milk, ketchup, and all the seasonings.
- In a loaf pan (9×5 inch), press in half of the meat mixture.
- Place the cheddar cheese cubes in a line down the center of the meat.
- Add the rest of the meat on top and press it down to cover the cheese.
- Bake the meatloaf for 20 minutes.
- While it bakes, mix the glaze ingredients in a small bowl.
- After 20 minutes, take the meatloaf out of the oven and spread the glaze on top.
- Put it back in the oven and bake for another 15 to 20 minutes, or until the inside reaches 165°F (74°C).
