How to Make Cabbage Roll Casserole

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic
  • 1 small head of cabbage, chopped
  • 2 (14.5 ounce) cans diced tomatoes
  • 1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 cup uncooked white rice

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink. Drain the fat.
  3. Add garlic and chopped cabbage. Cook and stir until cabbage is tender, about 10 minutes.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, water, pepper, salt, and cayenne. Mix everything well.
  5. Spread uncooked rice evenly in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
  6. Pour the meat and cabbage mixture over the rice. Cover the dish with foil.
  7. Bake for 1 hour. Then remove the foil and bake for another 20 minutes.
