How to Make Country Apple Fritter Bread

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2/3 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 apples, peeled and chopped (any kind you like)

For the Glaze:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 to 3 teaspoons of milk or cream (add slowly to get the right texture)

Directions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  3. In a larger bowl, beat the white sugar and butter together until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time. Stir in the vanilla.
  4. In another bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Slowly add it to the butter mix. Pour in the milk and stir until combined.
  5. Pour half the batter into the loaf pan. Add half of the chopped apples on top, then sprinkle with half the brown sugar mix. Lightly press down.
  6. Add the rest of the batter, then top with the remaining apples and brown sugar mix. Press it all down gently.
  7. Bake for 50 to 60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Let it cool for about 15 minutes, then remove from the pan.
  9. Mix the powdered sugar and milk to make the glaze. Drizzle it over the cooled bread.
