How to Make Wendy’s Chili

Ingredients:

  • 2 pounds fresh ground beef
  • 1 quart tomato juice
  • 1 (29-ounce) can tomato purée
  • 1 (15-ounce) can red kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (15-ounce) can pinto beans, drained
  • 1 medium-large onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chopped celery
  • 1/4 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 1/4 cup chili powder (less if you want it mild)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Directions:

  1. In a large pot, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Break it up into small pieces.
  2. Drain any extra fat.
  3. Add the chopped onion, celery, and green pepper. Cook for a few minutes until soft.
  4. Pour in the tomato juice and tomato purée. Stir well.
  5. Add the kidney beans and pinto beans. Mix everything together.
  6. Now add all the seasonings: chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano, sugar, and cayenne pepper. Stir again.
  7. Lower the heat and cover the pot. Let it simmer for 1 to 1.5 hours. Stir now and then.
