How to Make Shrimp and Broccoli Alfredo

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound medium or large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • ¼ cup water
  • 8 ounces medium pasta shells, cooked and drained
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk or half-and-half (you can swap one cup for heavy cream for a richer sauce)
  • ⅔ cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 1–2 teaspoons salt, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon cracked black pepper
  • Extra Parmesan cheese for topping (optional)

Directions:

  1. In a large pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 4 to 6 minutes until they turn pink and are cooked through. Remove the shrimp and set them aside.
  2. In the same pan, add broccoli and water. Cover and cook for 4 to 6 minutes until the broccoli is soft. Drain any extra water and set the broccoli aside with the shrimp.
  3. In the same pan, melt the butter. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute until it smells good.
  4. Stir in the flour and mix well. Slowly add the milk while stirring to keep the sauce smooth.
  5. Add the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper. Stir until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens.
  6. Put the cooked pasta, shrimp, and broccoli back into the pan. Mix everything together and cook for a few minutes to heat it all.
  7. Serve hot with extra Parmesan cheese on top if you like.
